Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a APAC Marketing Manager – Skin & Home to join our Personal Care business.  This position will be based in Shanghai, China location.  This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and commercial function. This position will report to the APAC General Manager, Personal Care.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Growing the skin and home business in a sustainable & profitable way (YOY, sustainable gross profit growth)
  • Leading all skin and home initiatives & supporting the selling process as required
  • Pricing and delivery of skin and home price/margin targets
  • Analyzing & understanding the skin and home market to:
    • Best position Ashland vs the competition
    • Align products & marketing activities with the key trends & regional needs
    • Identify unmet market & key customer needs
    • Identify product line extension and M&A opportunities
  • Developing a robust portfolio of innovation projects for the region
    • Ensuring new product launch targets/goals are met
  • Marketing intelligence
    • Market supply and demand, competitor sales & marketing activities, competitor profiling
    • Communicate with global counterpart and support decisions based on the competitive information, etc.
  • Define and implement effective Marcom plans for the Asia skin and home business, including trade shows, promotion programs, branding etc.
  • Provide direction to a team of regional marketers to cover skin and home. 
  • Partner with R&D to drive product innovation and ensure appropriate portfolio coherence. 
  • Partner with teams in Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Regulatory to ensure operational excellence of portfolio. 
  • Partner with Commercial Sales in Asia Pacific to maximize sales & profitability.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with major customers.
  • Position will be expected to actively engage the organization and travel locally, regionally as required to support the organization, collaborate with internal partners, and serve customers.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • BS degree, major in Chemicals or sales and marketing. An advanced degree, preferably an MBA, is preferred. 
  • 10+ years experiences in the skin and home market or other personal care markets/industries. Minimum of 5 years industry experience in marketing, preferably in MNCs.
  • Relevant knowledge of excipients, ingredients, and related materials

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Leadership- oversee, direct & lead the skin and home business in your assigned area.
  • Ownership- taking the assigned responsibilities & owning the result.
  • Collaboration / working in teams- ability to influence the entire regional team to achieve the desired results.
  • Speaking up when things are not right/need to be changed- this should be done with all team members including Regional and Global Management with no fear of retribution.
  • Creativity & Innovation- thinking and imagining our business differently to drive innovation / new ways of doing things.
  • Relationship building- with key industry contacts, customers, peers & superiors.
  • Ability to analyze data & information and develop conclusions and actions.
  • Presentation skills- both oral & written.
  • Command skills- ability to make a tough decision when the group cannot reach a consensus.
  • Coachability/approachability- willing to take direct performance feedback (good or bad) and use it to personally improve.
