About the Company

San Diego-based design-build playground company expanding into full-scope park and site development projects. Our team is passionate about creating safe, engaging, and sustainable outdoor environments—from playgrounds and splash pads to complete park renovations. As we grow our capabilities in public and private park construction, we’re seeking a seasoned estimator who understands the San Diego construction market and can bring strong relationships with local trade partners to the table.

The Opportunity

This is not your typical civil estimating role. You’ll lead the estimating effort for new park and site development projects, helping shape a growing division focused on small to mid-size public works and private site projects.

Project Mix & Contract Sizes

• 75% public / 25% private

• Pocket park new construction and park replacement projects ($500K–$1.5M)

• DSA shade structure and public school projects ($250K–$500K), especially during summer

bid cycles

• Current bonding capacity of $1.5M with targeted 20% year-over-year growth

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for park and site development projects

• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure complete scope coverage

• Perform plan reviews, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis

• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities

• Support bid strategy, pricing reviews, and division growth initiatives

Requirements

• 8+ years of estimating experience in civil, site, park, or landscape construction

• Strong relationships with San Diego-area subcontractors and suppliers

• Proficiency with estimating tools such as BlueBeam, HeavyBid, PlanSwift, or similar

• Detail-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills

• Interest in helping build and scale a growing division

Benefits

• Performance-based bonus structure

• Health, dental, vision, and 401(k)

• Hybrid work schedule
