Develop modern applications that support the Nation’s weather forecasting mission.

Science and Technology Corporation (STC) is seeking a Full Stack Developer to support development of modern web-based systems used by NOAA programs supporting the National Weather Service (NWS). These applications help manage, process, and distribute environmental data used by forecasters and decision-makers across the United States.

 

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, developers, and scientists, the selected candidate will contribute to the development of scalable applications that support operational weather data systems and services. This role provides the opportunity to work with modern technologies while supporting systems that help NOAA deliver accurate forecasts, warnings, and environmental intelligence to the Nation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement web-based applications supporting NOAA and National Weather Service systems.
  • Build front-end user interfaces using technologies such as React, Angular, or modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Develop back-end services using Python, Node.js, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Assist in development of REST APIs and data integration services.
  • Work with environmental and geospatial datasets supporting weather data systems.
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Support containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and version-controlled development environments.
  • Document application architecture and development workflows.

  • Experience developing web-based software applications.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web frameworks.
  • Experience working with back-end languages such as Python, Node.js, or Java.
  • Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in collaborative teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

 

Highly Desired

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience working with scientific, geospatial, or weather datasets.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
