Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises Employment Services

ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

 

SUMMARY: The Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently seeking for up to 6 student assistants to provide safety and handling support for equine handling labs. The students will provide support under the supervision of assigned, qualified lead handlers for weekend AVMA equine labs.

 

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Provide safety and handling skills to novice students participating in AVMA equine labs. 
  • Handling skills include haltering, leading, grooming, TPR’s, leg bandage and oral medication administration.
  • These labs are held either Friday or Saturday for a total of 8 hours, during all types of outside temperatures.
  • Approximately 15 labs are held each year with 2 student assistants per lab.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Minimum GPA 3.2.
  • Majors in Animal Science Pre-Vet Major or Animal Health Science Major.

 

PREFERRED:

  • Horse experience is desired, but not required.
