Welding Lab Assistant - Part-time

This is a part-time, 15 hour per week on-campus position.

SCOPE OF WORK: To perform laboratory duties, machine test and repairs on equipment. This position reports to the Welding Department Chair at MCC.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintains general cleaning, order, set up and organizing of the welding lab materials.
  • Assists Welding instructors with ordering consumable supplies critical to running the welding lab.
  • Inventory and organize consumables and materials.
  • Manage consumables and materials spreadsheets for tracking purposes and future estimate use.
  • Performs simple repairs on welding equipment.
  • Process incoming materials for the lab.
  • Construct and weld new lab tooling and equipment as necessary.
  • Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate�s or technical degree or education equivalent to welding.

Experience: No work experience required.

RECOMMMENED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of laboratory principles, techniques, terminology and equipment. Skill in laboratory routine and in the care and operation of equipment. Ability to follow directions and to make simple arithmetic computations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college�s appointing authority.
