Job Description

Summary:
This position performs skilled, semi-skilled, technical and manual labor involving equipment preventative maintenance; process operations of water and wastewater treatment facilities and other utility facilities.

Responsibilities:
Water Treatment Operator activities includes the use of computer technology, sampling and laboratory analysis, operation of heavy equipment and vehicles, plant equipment, and field equipment. This position requires 12 hour rotating shift work. Must be willing and able to work Nights, Days, Weekends, Holidays and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Training in water or wastewater treatment operations (or equivalent knowledge of biology, chemistry or related field), mechanical systems, or equipment maintenance preferred. Although no experience is required, preferred candidate will have one to two years of responsible experience in water and wastewater operation as well as basic knowledge of mathematic principles and computer-controlled systems. The successful candidate must pass the City background check post-offer City physical and drug screen.
