Job Description
IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for a Project Manager at our Ravenswood Power Plant located in Long Island City, NY. The salary range for this role is $180K - $200K annual base salary. The Project Manager position will report to Maintenance Manager.
Ravenswood Generating Station is a 2,000 MW electric generating station on 28 acres located in Long Island City, Queens, NY along the East River. It consists of three steam turbine plants (1750 MWs), one GE 7FA combined cycle plant (250 MWs), Ravenswood is a component of the New York City generation supply.
Job Summary
The Project Manager will provide technical support to operations, maintenance and facility projects. This is a dynamic position, requiring flexibility and client-oriented focus to support the project and deliver results. Strong leadership and self-reliance are required. Although each client/project requirement/need varies, this candidate must be comfortable interacting and provide recommendations to plant management and asset ownership.
Job Functions
- Provide project management by contributing your technical and engineering expertise to the facility team. Depending on the specific project the Project Manager will be responsible for design, application, and inspection of existing assets; deployment of the right materials, sizing of equipment, operating parameters, life expectancy, life extension; and/or plant configurations; evaluation of design and future operating challenges associated with existing plants and potential acquisition targets, etc.
- Work cross-functionally and proactively to increase value; for example, partner with O&M teams during outage planning and scheduling, leverage qualified contractors, develop component and system specifications, and remove any process bottlenecks.
- Provide technical support for all related work as needed for facility support, assessments and audits, bid specification, evaluation of vendor/contractor bid proposals, monitoring of contractor work performance to assure contract compliance, plant troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control equipment, programs, and issues.
- Evaluate safety to improve safeguards and processes for employees and equipment. Work closely with the Plant Operations Teams to ensure a Safety-First culture.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or related engineering field.
- 8+ years related experience in the power industry. Experience in utility scale powerplants or other industrial settings, with a working knowledge of power generation systems.
- Position requires a working knowledge of major health and safety regulations as well as environmental,
federal, state and local rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of power plant design, operations and maintenance required.
- Project development, acquisition analysis and field troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis (“RCA”) and successful determination of the fundamental process in determination of and technical incident RCA.
- Prior experience leading a team of technicians and/or engineers as well as managing a group of contractors.
- Project Management (PMP) certification is desirable.

- Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
- Project management experience in leading a collaborative team in accomplishing major/minor projects, including project management software, budget and schedule tracking etc. Have a successful track record of completing projects/assignments on time schedule and within budget.
- Present a proactive, collaborative style of dealing with clients, contractors and consultants.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, implementing resources and people effectively and efficiently to accomplish goals.
- Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
- Must be cooperative with those he/she interacts with and can work without direct supervision.
- Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
- Work within and ensure strict adherence to all Company safety practices and procedures.
- Problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to lead and direct Plant Operations teams for projects.

- Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all business challenges.
Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties at the plant.
- Work with hazardous materials may be required.
