Job Description

Job Description: 

Machine operator to maintain and run the knitting machines according to production and quality specifications. Operators are responsible for machine maintenance, safety, production, quality, quantity and housekeeping.

Duties and Responsibilities
•Carry out the production schedule for your machines
•Be able to do machine set up’s and welds
•Be able to lower rolls (tip over) of plastic film to the floor and pick them up with a power lift and place on machine (150 to 225 lbs.)
•Locate and fix broken threads
•Recognize and be able to tighten loose film or floppy film
•Clean and replace rolls of filament or monofilament thread, adjust tension as necessary
•Replace empty draw cord spools
•Know which machines and mesh types need to be oiled
•Know how to check waste from slitters, adjust tension and empty waste wheels
•Know difference between warp and weft
•Know what needles and guides are
•Know how to correctly unload the doff unit, roll position, reset meter, position weight bar, reload doff bar and verify production counts
•Know what number your machines are
•Walk around machines and check for defects and mark them
•Call a mechanic to check the machine when needed
•Report all accidents to your supervisor
•Keep your area clean, taking out trash, cores, or film
•Verify changeovers, check set on machine is correct and has passes quality inspection
•Restock supplies for the next shift, this includes: film, draw cord, filament, and trimmed cores
•Get/give reports to other shifts

Qualifications
•High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma
•Basic mathematical calculation skills
•Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
•Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
•Basic computer knowledge
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements
•Standing and walking 90% of the shift
•Can lift up to 60 lbs.
•Be able to push, pull, squat, bend or reach 80% of the workday
•Be able to handle, grasp, and perform repetitive motions
•Have eye/hand/foot coordination
•Ability to thread needles
•Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 60 degrees to 90+ depending on the season and the department
•Can operate lift equipment either pallet jack or lift truck and battery-controlled lifts
