Groundskeeper


Status/Class Hourly/Non-Exempt

Reports to Waterfront Director & Dockmaster 

Supervises N/A  


Job Purpose 

To maintain an aesthetically-pleasing and functional outdoor space for the Club. To ensure flowers and shrubbery is planted and maintained according to seasonality.   


Duties and Responsibilities 


1. Assist with irrigation system setup, repair, and maintenance to ensure optimal watering schedules for plants and lawns 

2. Support landscape maintenance activities including mowing, trimming, edging, and pruning using hand tools and power tools 

3. Help with general gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, mulching, and fertilizing to promote healthy growth 

4. Maintain lawns and landscaped areas by performing lawn care duties like aeration and overseeding 

5. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various landscaping projects 

6. Collaborate with team members on landscaping projects to ensure timely completion and high-quality results 

7. Assist in the upkeep of equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean, organized, and ready for use 

8. Maintain the irrigation system that waters the various flowers beds around the Club 

9. Make suggestions on seasonal flower and plans when necessary 

10. Remove weeds and debris from flower beds and maintain the greenery around the Club  

11. Inspects areas daily when on duty to ensure the cleanliness of the Club 

12. Maintains the cleanliness of the entire harbor area including: 

13. Litter pick-up from containers as needed or scheduled by the Dockmaster 

14. Daily removal of reeds and other debris from boat ramp 

15. Reports any feedback of members or guests to Waterfront Director or Dockmaster 


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. 
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment, which is typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
  • Push, pull or lift 50 pounds.
