Role Summary

Fasken’s Business Development team has an immediate opening for an experienced professional to work out of either our Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal office.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Development, this role is responsible for supporting the members and activities of the firm-wide Business Development (BD) Team. The BD Coordinator will provide direct support in the creation and execution of a variety of firm-wide business development initiatives and will have exposure to several projects and other BD responsibilities, including practice and industry group activities, partnership management, sponsorships, market research, client engagement, events, and marketing efforts.

As BD Coordinator, the successful candidate will enjoy a highly visible position providing national and international marketing and business development assistance to assigned practice and industry groups, working with lawyers across our eight offices. They will also work closely with our regional marketing, digital marketing, proposals, and communications teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the senior manager in the execution of business plan strategies and initiatives, and assist in tracking programming, revenue and expenses for budgeting and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on BD projects, including market rese­­­­­arch, competitive analysis, and outreach strategies.
  • Coordinate business development events, webinars and sponsorships for practice and industry groups.
  • Support thought leadership initiatives, social media campaigns, and practice communications.
  • Manage and execute updates to practice and industry group content on the firm website.
  • Coordinate deal collection efforts and maintain deal tracking system.
  • Leverage next gen CRM platform and Business Intelligence to track opportunities and relationships.
  • Assist in the development of pitches, proposals, and marketing materials.
  • Manage industry group memberships, renewals, and provide analysis of trade associations.
  • Contribute to ranking submissions and coordinate related research or interview requests.
  • Provide administrative and strategic support to improve BD team efficiency.
  • Coordinate virtual and video conference meetings for BD and Industry and Practice Group stakeholders.
  • Support lawyers to prepare them for business development ­­­meetings/trips.
  • Track client touchpoints, initiatives, and outcomes in CRM.
  • Assist with preparation of client-facing presentations and meeting briefs.
  • Support follow‑up on leads, introductions, and referrals.
  • Assist with referral tracking and relationship mapping.
  • Support alumni engagement initiatives and communications.
  • Assist with the updating, maintenance, and management of Business Development operational documents.

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree required.
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience in a partnership or matrix environment is an asset.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to changing deadlines.
    • Proactive problem-solving and independent decision-making.
    • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
    • Familiarity with CRM tools a plus.
    • Professional, diplomatic, and confident in working with all levels of the firm.

    Compensation

    Pay Range

    $50,000 to $60,000 per annum. Pay range to be commensurate with experience.
