Department Overview

Investor Relations (IR) integrates finance, communications, marketing, and securities law compliance. IR facilitates effective two-way communication between Walker & Dunlop, the financial community, and other constituencies, ultimately contributing to W&D stock achieving fair valuation.

The Impact You Will Have

The SVP, Investor Relations leads the development and execution of the Company’s investor relations strategy, with the goal of strengthening the Company’s reputation and credibility with investors, analysts, media, and regulatory stakeholders. This role serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, ensuring consistent, transparent, and compelling communication of the Company’s financial performance, strategy, and market position.

This leader brings deep financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, investor-focused messaging. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can manage competing priorities while maintaining strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute a comprehensive investor relations strategy aligned with the Company’s business goals and financial performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for investors, equity analysts, and media, managing relationships and ongoing communications.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and refine messaging around financial results, corporate strategy, and market positioning.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual earnings processes, including preparation of materials, earnings calls, and investor communications.
  • Develop and deliver investor presentations, roadshow materials, and executive briefing documents.
  • Monitor market trends, peer activity, and investor sentiment to inform strategy and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Legal, and Marketing to ensure accurate, compliant, and consistent external disclosures, including earnings releases, annual reports, proxy statements, and website content.
  • Advise executive leadership on investor expectations, market perceptions, and potential risks and opportunities.
  • Lead and develop the investor relations team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in investor relations, corporate finance, investment banking, or a related field.
  • Experience within commercial finance, real estate finance, or a related industry strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of engaging effectively with institutional investors, analysts, and senior executives.
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting, capital markets, and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong financial and analytical expertise, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with executive-level presentation capabilities.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships across various stakeholder groups.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including team development and performance management.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to navigate high-pressure situations and manage crisis communications.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes.
  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders.

This position has an estimated base salary of $200,000 - $220,000 plus a discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant’s relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
