POSITION SUMMARY:

Walapai Media is seeking a dedicated and quality focused Radio Announcer to create engaging content. This role is ideal for someone who has strong community values, and an interest in radio broadcasting, storytelling and local outreach. Training may be provided for certain duties, but the candidate must demonstrate some required skills.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Host live radio segments with a professional and friendly on-air presence.
  • Assist with audio production, including editing, recording, and programming.
  • Write and deliver announcements, PSAs, and community updates.
  • Support remote broadcasts, cultural events, and local coverage when needed.
  • Monitor equipment, update station logs for FCC compliance.
  • Collaborate with media staff and tribal departments to create respectful, informative, and fun content.
  • Work efficiently both on a team and independently.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comfortable communicating on-air, conducting interviews and interacting with the public.
  • Experience in broadcasting, audio production, media, or related fields.
  • Ability to work independently and attend community events.
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems, such as word processing, and managing files and records. Must be computer literate or willing to learn and become proficient in Word, Excel, and other computer programs.
  • Must be dependable, responsible and willing to learn. Job requires being careful about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a valid driver license and be eligible for the tribe’s insurance.
  • Must have a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Submit to and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random tests thereafter.
