Job Description

What You Will Do:

  • Provide screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, intervention and follow-up services for disorders of speech and language
  • Provide training and support to teachers, other professionals and family members of individuals with speech, voice and language communication
  • Develop and establish effective augmentative and alternative communication techniques and strategies, including selecting, prescribing and dispensing of aids and devices and training individuals in their use
  • To work with adaptive devices 
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, school personnel and community representatives
  • Maintain accurate and timely records
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and exhibit professional growth
  • Manage a safe and comfortable learning environment
  • Prepare for and participate in the REED/IEP process
  • Inform building administrator of student’s progress and programmatic concerns
  • Direct students in clinical or pre-clinical training, volunteers and attendant personnel that may be assigned to him/her
  • Comply with school district policies and procedures
  • Effectively participate in meetings, committees, staffings and other required district and building activities in a positive manner
  • Effectively plan and organize duties as well as personal work environment
  • Comply with Medicaid billing procedures
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building principal or assistant principal.


Under the general supervision of the Building Administrator.


Need to Have:

  • Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License or Educational Limited SLP License
  • Experience in evaluation and therapy of children with disabilities preferred
