Job Description

The Radiologist III takes a leadership role in the department, overseeing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Participates in and leads departmental projects while teaching and mentoring junior staff. Plans and executes advanced radiotherapy treatments and contributes to research initiatives aimed at improving patient care and innovative treatment solutions.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS  

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property. 

 

Extensive experience as a licensed radiologist. 

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Oversees and interprets complex diagnostic and therapeutic radiological procedures with a high degree of autonomy and expertise. 

 

Designs and implements bespoke treatment plans for complex or high-risk cases, incorporating the latest radiotherapy innovations. 

 

Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop and refine patient treatment plans, ensuring optimal outcomes. 

 

Oversees the administration of radiopaque substances and manages complex interventions independently. 

 

Plans and executes advanced radiotherapy treatments, ensuring precision and efficacy. 

 

Participates in and leads departmental research projects, contributing to the advancement of radiological practices. 

 

Reviews and approves radiological reports and records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medical standards. 

 

Develops and refines imaging protocols and ensures departmental adherence to best practices. 

 

Mentors and oversees the training of junior radiologists, fostering a collaborative and educational environment. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Doctoral degree (M.D.) and a minimum of four to seven (4-7) years’  of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.  

 

Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR).

A keen eye for detail is crucial, as they must see objects both near and far, distinguish between different colors, shades, and brightness, and maintain visual focus for precision work. Effective communication is also important, requiring clear speech and the ability to understand others. Radiologists need steady hand and arm coordination to hold positions or perform detailed tasks, and their fingers must be dexterous enough to handle, grasp, or assemble minute objects. While less critical, it is still necessary for radiologists to make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls, focus amidst distractions, and have the capacity to discern and react to various sounds. They also benefit from maintaining bodily support using the stomach and lower back muscles without fatigue, coordinating multiple limbs in place, and accurately judging distances between objects. These combined physical abilities contribute to the meticulous and sustained focus required in their field.
