Job Title:  Registered Dietitian

Supervisor:  Director of Clinical Services

FLSA Status:  Exempt Part-Time

 Job Summary 

Responsible for providing nutrition care and education to PACE of Guilford and Rockingham Counties participants.  Evaluate the participant’s nutritional status, develop and implement nutritional care plans, assess nutrient requirements, recommend nutritional prescriptions, evaluate participant tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional care, and communicate nutritional data and information to the physicians and other health professionals.

Requirements

Specifications 

Education and Special Training: Bachelor’s Degree from American Dietitians’ Association (ADA) accredited institution with a major in nutrition.  Master’s Degree plus approved work experience preferred.

Experience:  At least 1 year experience working with the frail elderly.

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required:  ADA registered.  CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator)status preferred but not required; must be CDE eligible in 60 months.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires ability to teach; analytical thinking; and ability to provide care to geriatric participants; knowledge of clinical dietetics.  Only act within the scope of his or her authority to practice.  Meet a standardized set of competencies for the specific position description established by PACE of Guilford and Rockingham Counties and approved by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) before working independently.  With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to utilize proper body mechanics in the movement of supplies and equipment.  Ability to perform repetitive wrist motions.

 

Summary

Key Responsibilities  

·       Performs nutritional assessments and reassessments as indicated by nutrition standards.

·       Provides nutrition education to participants/caregivers as ordered by physician and according to ADA standards.

·       Provides nutrition education to staff and the community on basic and special nutritional needs, proper food handling and prevention of food borne illnesses.

·       Works collaboratively with other team members implementing participant education.

·       Coordination of 24 hour care delivery.

·       Documents participant changes appropriately in the medical record and communicates participant changes to team members.

·       Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).  Participants in care planning.

·       Attends staff meetings.

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

Environmental Factors 

Tasks with potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens include, but are not limited to the following:

1.      Assisting participants with meals

 

Demonstrates knowledge of and supports PACE mission, vision, values, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
