Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) | 2026–2027 School Year
Location: AMS Little Rock
Compensation: $15 – $17/ per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS Arkansas represents our first expansion beyond Arizona, and we are excited to serve students and families in the Little Rock community. We believe in high expectations, structured instruction, and strong relationships to support student success.
As a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant), you will work alongside educators to support student learning and classroom operations. This role includes providing small-group and individualized support, assisting with classroom management, and helping maintain a structured and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support
Support lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and transitions
Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and reteach concepts
Support individualized learning plans and student interventions
Student Supervision & Environment
Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure safety
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
Support behavior management and reinforce expectations
Operations & Collaboration
Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
Assist with grading and documentation as directed
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff
Substitute for lead teachers as needed
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a paraprofessional exam
ORAssociate’s degree or higher
Prior experience working with children in a school setting
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate initiative
Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Experience working in Title I or diverse school environments
Background Requirements (Arkansas)
Arkansas State Background Check
Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check
Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) required background clearance and fingerprinting
