ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Activities and Program Management (approximately 50%):
Plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive calendar of activities and programs for older adults at Cove Community Center, including fitness and wellness classes, educational workshops, social and recreational activities, arts and creative expression programs, technology and digital literacy offerings, day trips and special events, and intergenerational programming designed to reduce social isolation and increase community engagement. Researches and implements evidence-based programs for older adults, including falls prevention, chronic disease self-management, and health promotion programming aligned with National Council on Aging standards. Recruits, schedules, and coordinates contract instructors, guest speakers, and program facilitators; negotiates terms and monitors quality of instruction.
Staff and Volunteer Supervision (approximately 25%):
Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws including: interviewing, hiring and training staff; planning, assigning and directing work; approving requests for leave; establishing deadlines; coordinating and approving staff training; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises volunteers who support Division of Aging activities, congregate and home-delivered meal services, and programs; assigns volunteers to appropriate functions based on skills, interests, and program needs. Monitors and records volunteer hours; plans and coordinates volunteer recognition events and appreciation activities. Provides guidance, direction, and support to part-time staff, seasonal employees, and volunteers involved in program delivery.
Administrative and Community Coordination (approximately 25%):
Prepares complex, routine and non-routine reports as requested utilizing a variety of software; receives, sorts, and summarizes materials and statistics for the preparation of reports; prepares work reports; relays and interprets administrative decisions, policies and instructions. Assists in developing and monitoring the activities and programming budget; tracks expenditures and revenues; assists in writing grant proposals and reporting for program funding, including Title III/Older Americans Act, Community Development Block Grant, levy, and foundation sources. Coordinates with Division of Aging social work staff, transportation staff, and other Department of Human Services divisions on crossdivisional programming and services. Serves as a liaison and/or member of various committees/teams and collaborates, persuades, presents reports to and negotiates/networks with others outside own work area to coordinate efforts and maintain cooperative and efficient relations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a closely related field; and,
- Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience in recreation programming, activities coordination, or services for older adults, including at least one year of supervisory experience; or,
- Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Valid Ohio driver's license.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Employee may be required to work overtime pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 15 of the current negotiated agreement. Applicants may be reassigned as required. Work is performed primarily at Cove Community Center with occasional travel to community locations for events, outings, and partner meetings. Some exposure to outdoor temperatures during day trips and outdoor programming. The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderately quiet but can be loud during activities, events, and large group programming. The incumbent may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events and programs.
