Role Summary

The AV Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing installed audiovisual systems across Logic Integration's commercial and residential client base. This role serves as a direct point of contact with clients, requiring exceptional customer service skills, professional communication, and the ability to work independently in the field.

The Service Technician must be capable of troubleshooting complete AV systems including control, audio, video, networking, lighting, and shading. This role requires strong diagnostic methodology, familiarity with major AV platforms (Crestron, Control4, QSC, Biamp), and the ability to upload, modify, and load programming code in the field.

This role requires 2–5+ years of experience in AV installation, service, or a related technical trade with demonstrated troubleshooting ability.

Core Responsibilities

Diagnostics, Troubleshooting & Repair
• Perform on-site and remote diagnostics on installed AV systems including audio, video, control, networking, lighting, and shading
• Troubleshoot system-level issues using logical, step-by-step diagnostic methodology across cabling, hardware, configuration, programming, and network layers
• Diagnose and resolve signal path issues, ground loops, impedance mismatches, network connectivity failures, and control system faults
• Perform firmware updates, software patches, and configuration changes on AV equipment in the field
• Upload, download, and perform field edits to control system programs (Crestron, Control4) and DSP platforms (QSC, Biamp)
• Configure and tune audio systems: gain structure, EQ, routing, zone management, and speaker optimization
• Repair or replace faulty equipment, cabling, and terminations as needed

Preventative Maintenance & System Support
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance visits on client AV systems per Logic Care service plans
• Conduct system health checks including signal verification, audio tuning, video calibration, and network performance
• Test and certify cabling using appropriate test equipment (cable testers, multimeters, tone generators)
• Document system conditions, maintenance performed, and any recommendations for upgrades or repairs
• Support remote monitoring and diagnostics for managed service clients

Client Relations & Communication
• Serve as the on-site representative of Logic Integration — maintain the highest level of professionalism, courtesy, and client care
• Communicate clearly with clients about system issues, repair timelines, and recommended solutions
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Programmers on escalated issues or system modifications
• Process service work orders accurately and in a timely manner
• Provide client training on system operation when needed

Installation Support
• Support installation teams as needed with cable infrastructure, device mounting, rack assembly, and system trim-out
• Install, connect, and configure AV equipment including displays, projectors, speakers, cameras, microphones, and control devices
• Read and interpret AV drawings, floor plans, rack elevations, and signal flow diagrams
• Ensure all work meets AVIXA installation standards for cable management, rack building, and device mounting

Job Site Operations & Documentation
• Track and report time accurately using company time-tracking systems
• Maintain company vehicle cleanliness – daily trash removal, weekly deep clean, organized tool and parts inventory
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all client visits
• Comply with all job site safety requirements including PPE, OSHA standards, and client-specific safety protocols
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all client sites

Industry Standards Alignment (AVIXA / InfoComm)
The Service Technician is expected to work in compliance with industry standards:
• ANSI/AVIXA A102.01:2017 – AV Installation Standard (cable management, device mounting, system commissioning)
• ANSI/AVIXA F501.01 – Cable Labeling and Cable Pathways
• ANSI/AVIXA A102.02 – AV System Performance Verification
• ANSI/TIA-568 – Structured Cabling Standards
• ANSI/TIA-606 – Administration Standard for Telecommunications Infrastructure
• OSHA Construction Safety Standards (fall protection, PPE, electrical safety)

Requirements

Required Qualifications
• 2–5+ years of experience in AV installation, service, or related technical trade
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across audio, video, control, and networking systems
• Experience with control system platforms (Crestron, Control4) including basic code loading and field edits
• Experience with DSP platforms (QSC, Biamp) including basic configuration and audio tuning
• Working knowledge of audio and video signal types, routing, and system interconnection
• Ability to read AV drawings, rack elevations, and signal flow diagrams
• Excellent customer service and professional communication skills
• Self-motivated with strong time management and ability to work independently
• High school diploma or equivalent (two-year electronics degree or equivalent experience preferred)
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Authorized to work full-time in the United States
• Must provide standard hand tools per Logic Integration tool list
• Ability to safely lift 80 lbs regularly and work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications
• AVIXA CTS or CTS-I certification
• Manufacturer certifications: Crestron, Control4, QSC, Biamp, Shure, or similar
• Experience with AV-over-IP systems (Dante, AES67, NDI)
• Experience with UC platforms (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms)
• Networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, subnetting, basic switching)
• Experience with lighting control systems (Lutron, Ketra) and motorized shading
• Experience with residential automation platforms (Control4, Savant)
• Pro-audio experience (live sound, installed sound, mixing) a plus
• Personal interest in acoustics, electronics, music, sound, lighting, and video systems
