The Research Engineer will perform research, execute hardware design and fabrication, and develop models and functional codes using workstations, single-board computers, and microprocessors in support of Uncrewed systems research.
Duties / Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and integrate UAS hardware components to include fuselage, propulsion, payload carrying capabilities, and others.
• Performs advanced additive manufacturing tasks in support of center programs, including design optimization, material development, prototyping, and production of complex components.
• Execute hardware design and fabrication, and develop models and functional code using workstations, single-board computers, and microprocessors in support of uncrewed systems research.
• Train and support as a Range Aviation Safety Officer.
• Manage inventory of materials and other required resources specific to the lab and the programs assigned to support.
• Collaborate with other researchers and engineers within the center to develop and integrate aviation components.
• Support hands-on testing of UAS operations and conduct demonstrations for customers.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering, computer science, or information systems, with 0-3 years directly related full-time, verifiable work experience.
• Experience working with a UAH Research Center.
• Experience in design and production.
• 3D Printing Knowledge.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Ability to maintain a security clearance is required.
Desired Qualifications:
• Active Secret Clearance is preferred.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and experience with configuration management processes are desired.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification is desired.
• Experience in hands-on UAS integration is desired.
• Experience with UAS Testing support is desired.
