POSITION SUMMARY
This position conducts and coordinates purchasing, ordering, inventory and other supply activities to provide for the timely acquisition of all materials and/or equipment and/or services for the medical center (or assigned departments) in accordance with purchasing policies, procedures, and contracts.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Conducts and coordinates the activities and processes of ordering, shipping, receiving and restocking functions for proper supply chain maintenance of assigned areas. Coordinates necessary product returns to corporate warehouse, vendor or other locations within the system.

2. Regularly takes and accounts for inventory of all goods in assigned areas. Monitors usage, shelf life and stock rotation for supply chain items. Conducts needs analysis and determines optimal inventory levels of each item. Works with laboratory management to determine and maintain appropriate stock levels for all goods according to standard processes. Tracks and maintains assigned equipment.

3. Maintains, updates, researches, and tracks shipping/receiving records as required/requested by laboratory management, Logistics, vendor partners, Purchasing, corporate warehouse and Accounts Payable. Identifies and informs laboratory management, Purchasing and corporate warehouse of significant changes in supply change trends for assigned areas. Makes necessary recommendations to laboratory management for changes to inventory in collaboration with corporate warehouse and Purchasing.

4. Uses material management information system (MMIS) for ordering, tracking, charging, and usage reporting. Updates MMIS system files and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.

5. Follows policies and procedures ensuring necessary controls are observed and adhered to and scheduled inventories are conducted in a timely and accurate manner. Assists in the training of colleagues assigned to other areas within the system.

6. Updates work processes toward continuous improvement for changing and growing facility needs for supply chain services. Represents Materials Management in a professional and courteous manner by providing excellent customer service skills. Acts as a supply chain professional resource to laboratory personnel and management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS

This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, standing, walking, bending, reaching from below waist to overhead, grasping/handling, stooping, squatting, climbing, and occasional lifting of items/loads weighing up to 75 pounds. It requires occasional sitting. The environment includes outside on a receiving dock in all weather conditions and temperatures, in warehouse/storage areas in various sections of the hospital, and throughout the hospital including moving items onto and off of elevators. There is exposure to fumes, loud noises, and some chemical exposure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires business, math and communications skills, knowledge and abilities as normally evidenced by an Associate's Degree in Business, Purchasing or Procurement, or equivalent experience and training.

  • Requires the knowledge normally acquired over two or more years' experience in supply chain management and/or the medical field, with a broad understanding of medical supplies, medical supply handling, and inventory management.

  • Requires effective verbal and written communication skills, leadership and human relations skills, and excellent customer service skills.

  • Requires keyboarding skills and the ability to use and maintain information, charges and reports in a materials management information system.

  • Requires extensive use of MicroSoft Office products, particularly Outlook and Excel.

  • Requires capability of working with attention to detail and required time management skills.

  • Must have a valid State Driver’s License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with Lawson Materials Management Information System (MMIS) is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Additional related clinical or procurement knowledge and experience is a plus.

  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
