Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position is primarily responsible for overseeing and preparing food for the students and staff.  


 


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manage a small team of kitchen staff

  • Uses all kitchen equipment in a safe, proper, and efficient way.

  • Maintains the highest standards of safety, food safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen.

  • Serves all students in an efficient, food safe and hospitable manner. Ensures the appropriate portion size to meet state requirements.

  • Follow all food safety guidelines. Shows proper use of thermometers to ensure all foods are served at a safe food temperature. 

  • Prepares food according to a planned menu and recipes. 

  • Ensures finished product is of the best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.

  • Accurately completes a daily production record.

  • Reports to the kitchen manager any faulty or inferior quality food received

  • Assists in the unloading and putting away of all food deliveries. 

  • Completes daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, and facilities to include sweeping & mopping.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Previous experience working in the food industry is preferred.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students

  • Excellent organizational, time management and mult-tasking skills

  • Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs.

  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to stoop and bend over.

  • Must be able to reach overhead.

  • Must be able to read labels, instructions and follow recipes.  


WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • 9 month position

  • Reports to Director of Food Services 

  • Non-exempt
