Primary Function
Maintain the interior Lodge building, including Public areas, Guest rooms and Business Offices, in a safe, clean and attractive condition for guests and employees.
Reporting and Accountability
The Housekeeper reports to, and is accountable to the Lodge Head Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor.
Authority
The Housekeeper has the support and authority necessary to carry out the responsibilities and tasks described in this job description and other responsibilities of the Lodge housekeeping and laundry departments, assigned by the Head Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor.
Physical Requirements
- Adequate physical agility to perform cleaning and laundry tasks in the Lodge, including climbing stairs and stairs;
- Ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 50 pounds;
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop and reach;
- Ability to work a very physically demanding job during full shifts, excluding breaks.

Other Requirements
- Prefer one or more years experience in housekeeping in the hospitality industry
- Ability to perform all housekeeping and laundry tasks at high quality
Work Hours and Days
The nature of hospitality housekeeping often requires working non-standard hours and days. Housekeepers must be flexible and available to assure coverage including weekends and holidays.

Essential Responsibilities, Requirements and Performance Measures
Health and Safety 20%
Health and safety are essential for all GHSR’s operations. All employees must maintain a work environment and practices that assure the safety of our guests and other employees.
Responsibilities
- Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and Lodge Housekeeping safety policies and procedures are understood and followed at all times
Requirements
- Knowledge and ability to implement all specific Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and Lodge Housekeeping safety policies and guidelines
Performance Measures and Standards
- Demonstrated conformance to Glenwood Hot Springs Resort safety policies and guidelines
- Employee has completed appropriate safety training within 30 days of hire date.
- Employee safety manual is read and understood
- First Aid and emergency procedures are known and understood; verbal test passed.
- Reports from guests, employees and managers
- No customer complaints due to poor facility quality, or employee attitude
- General observation of Lodge housekeeper work practice
- Appropriate personal protective equipment worn at all times:
- Gloves, eye protection, apron, etc.
- Cleaning supply items are used and stored properly; all products used should be properly labeled.
- Cleaning chemicals handled according to procedure and always used appropriately.
- Employee is trained in and expected to follow safe hand and power equipment use procedures.
- Floor machines, vacuums, carpet extractors, etc.; daily inspections, bag replacement.
- Ladders, mops, buckets, etc.; daily inspections, replaced as needed. Report all deficiencies to maintenance.

Guest Relations and Interactions 10%
Responsibilities
- Treat all guests with courtesy and respect, in accordance with policy and procedures.
- As the Lodge housekeeper, be a friendly, cheerful, helpful, engaging host at all times.
Requirements
- Provide exceptional guest service by executing Glenwood Hot Springs Resort G.U.E.S.T. Service Standards, including selling and cross selling all of the products available throughout the entire property to enhance our guests’ experiences.
- Willingness to cross-train in other departments as assigned and provide help and support to other departments, including covering breaks and/or shifts if requested.
- Ability to prioritize guest satisfaction.
- Successful completion of Orientation and Guest Service Training
- Excellent personal guest relations skills.
Performance Measures and Standards
- Customer service competence:
- Employee is expected to complete New Hire Orientation and Guest Service Training within 90 days of being hired.
- Employee smiles and projects positive attitude, and treats guests and fellow employees with courtesy and respect.
- All Housekeeping work is conducted in a non-obtrusive manner, with minimal disturbance to guests. Respect for DND signs, proper knock and announcement at all times.
- Guests questions and requests are handled appropriately
- All Glenwood Hot Springs Resort questions are answered promptly or referred to appropriate source.
Housekeeping Operations 30%
Responsibilities
- Clean guest rooms daily when occupied
- Clean public and backroom areas daily
- Operate Laundry facilities to provide clean linens and towels
Requirements
- Knowledge of and ability to perform cleaning tasks according to procedure
- Ability to complete scheduled and required activity in a timely way
Performance Measures and Standards
- Guest rooms are cleaned daily when occupied
- By noon
- Stay-overs done early in shift.
- According to Glenwood Hot Springs Resort cleaning standards.
- Guest rooms are cleaned by 4:00 PM on day of check-out.

- All linen replaced
- All items stocked
- A minimum of 12 rooms can be cleaned in daily shift.

- Keep areas neat and clean at all times

- Ability to notice and correct areas not clean and neat without supervisor intervention

- All laundry and housekeeping areas, are clean and neat
- No tripping hazards
- No open trash
- Equipment and supplies stored and labeled properly.
- Areas are to be kept neat, orderly and inspected daily; problems reported and corrected.
- Lodge Manager or Head Housekeeper observation
- No deviations from cleanliness policy.

Laundry operations 25%
Responsibilities
- Maintain the flow of clean linen for the Lodge, Pool and Club facilities
- Care of laundry equipment, supplies, and facilities
- Clean and secure lost items
Requirements
- Understanding of and ability to perform all laundry procedures
Performance Measures and Standards
- Adequate supplies of stain-free linen are always available
- All Laundry is washed daily.
- All washed linen is professionally folded and stored.
- Stained or damaged linens are taken out of service and replaced, no exceptions.
- All laundry equipment is inspected and cleaned daily
- Lint screens and chemical systems are maintained according to procedure on a daily basis.
- Equipment problems are documented and reported properly and in a timely manner (within 24 hrs.)
- Maintenance or Lodge Manager are notified of problems in a timely manner (within 24 hrs.)
- All chemicals are handled according to safety guidelines procedures
- All safety equipment is kept close at hand and used when handling chemicals. Face shield, gloves, apron are to be used at all times.
- Material Safety Data Sheets are kept up to date.
- Linen and chemical inventory is maintained appropriately
- Inventory checked and documented at least weekly.
- Adequate supplies are maintained for daily operations.
- Orders are placed with Manager for approval.
