Job Description

Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations. This role involves direct patient interaction, assisting with medical procedures, managing records, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

 Medical Assistant 

  • High school diploma or GED – required
  • Clinical experience is preferred
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support card.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Perform and document all patient interactions, including medical history, vital signs, and interventions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Administer prescribed medications per provider instructions and document patient response while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assist with and perform delegated clinical tasks and procedures following established protocols and competency guidelines.
  • Utilize medical supplies and equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory control.
  • Address age-specific physical, psychological, and cultural needs for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients while maintaining a compassionate approach.
  • Effectively communicate with the care team to enhance coordination, prioritize patient needs, and ensure seamless workflow.
  • Train new employees in clinic workflows respectfully and accurately while staying updated on best practices through continuing education and workshops.
  • Communicate with insurance carriers for medication prior authorization.
  • Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills in changing work environments.

Clinic Nurse (RN or LPN) provides direct patient care within the scope of their licensure in a clinical setting. This role supports the provider and care team in delivering high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care. Duties include patient assessments, administering medications and immunizations, performing clinical procedures, patient education, and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). The RN may serve as a clinical resource and provide oversight to LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  •  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current LPN or RN license in Oregon without restriction.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Experience in outpatient, family practice, or specialty clinic setting preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments, collect patient histories, and document clinical findings accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Safely administer prescribed medications, immunizations, and treatments, monitoring for and documenting patient responses.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with exams, procedures, and in-office treatments while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Provide age-appropriate education on medications, diagnoses, care plans, and follow-up instructions to support patient self-management.
  • Collaborate with care team members, specialists, and support staff to ensure timely, effective care and continuity across services.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition or urgent/emergent situations using sound clinical judgment.
  • Follow infection control, HIPAA, medication administration, and clinic safety policies in line with BLS training and nursing best practices.
  • Record all nursing care, interventions, and patient communications accurately in the electronic medical record, ensuring proper documentation for continuity of care.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • Ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to move heavy objects and may be required to assist or safely move patients of varying weight sizes.
  • Requires periods of sitting, standing.
  • Requires frequent use of computer and telephone.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone. 
  • Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, including but not limited to sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items. Employee eligible for Hepatitis B Vaccination if desired.

Compensation:

MA:  $19.38-$26.72 DOE

LPN: $26.59-$36.54 DOE

RN: $42.00-$57.93 DOE
