Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and culturally sensitive Spanish-speaking Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices (SKHOV) in Brooklyn or Queens, New York. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities in our school and community-based programs. Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support to children with ASD and related developmental disabilities in our school and community-based programs
Assist with daily living skills, such as personal care, feeding, and toileting
Implement individualized behavioral support plans and strategies to promote independence and inclusion
Communicate effectively with children, staff, and families to ensure a smooth transition between home and school settings
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills
Maintain accurate records and communicate with families regarding daily activities and behaviors
Requirements:
High school diploma required
1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies as needed
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (if applicable)
