Job Description

POSITION: Childcare Provider II



EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt



NUMBER OF DAYS:  192



DEPARTMENT:  Early Childhood



REPORTS TO:  Site Supervisor, Director of Early Childhood Programs



SUPERVISES:  None



EDUCATION:   



  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field; or CDA credential (preferred)


EXPERIENCE:    



  • Early Childhood training and/or experience

























PRIMARY PURPOSE


The Provider II shall work under the supervision of the Childcare Site Supervisor and shall assist the Site Supervisor in the preparation and management of classroom activities, administrative requirements, and operations.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  1. Follow the directions of the Supervisor

  2. Prepare and implement lesson plans

  3. Assume responsibility for the care and safety of children

  4. Follow childcare licensing and Texas Rising Star requirements

  5. Prepare materials and displays as directed

  6. Work in a cooperative manner with other providers and children

  7. Assume responsibility for the care of equipment and teaching materials

  8. Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed

  9. Provide orientation and assistance to substitutes

  10. Change diapers

  11. Assist with toileting children

  12. Assist with measuring formulas and feeding children

  13. Supervise children at rest and at play

  14. Assist in filing and record keeping on a computer

  15. Interact effectively with public, staff, children and parents

  16. Serve as mentor for other child care staff

  17. Serve in the role of site supervisor in the site supervisor’s absence

  18. All other duties as assigned by the supervisor 


 
















Qualification Requirements



  1. Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field; or CDA credential

  2. Hold current CPR and Basic First Aid certificates

  3. Have visual and hearing acuity

  4. Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal skills

  5. Excellent communication skills

  6. Be able to keep up with crawling and walking children

  7. Familiar with various office machines
