Job Description

Hybrid position within Florida

  • Regulatory Expertise and Compliance

    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations as they apply to warehousing, fleet, and delivery operations.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert and first point of contact for regulatory inquiries, inspections, and audits.
    • Manage OSHA recordkeeping requirements (Forms 300, 300A, 301) with full audit readiness.
    • Oversee DOT compliance, including driver qualification files, hours-of-service tracking, drug/alcohol testing, and vehicle inspection/maintenance programs.
    • Ensure hazardous materials handling and transport comply with documentation, training, labeling, and incident response requirements.

    Hazard Identification and Risk Elimination

    • Conduct comprehensive safety audits, job hazard analyses, and site inspections to proactively identify risks.
    • Develop and enforce corrective and preventive actions to eliminate unsafe conditions and practices.
    • Lead root cause investigations for incidents and near misses, ensuring findings translate into actionable improvements.
    • Partner with operations leaders to design safer processes, equipment layouts, and workflows.

    Safety Culture, Training, and Engagement

    • Champion a “Safety-First” culture across all levels of the organization.
    • Develop and deliver engaging training programs on safe work practices, defensive driving, hazard recognition, and emergency response.
    • Coach managers and frontline employees to model and reinforce safe behaviors daily.
    • Create and share communications (toolbox talks, newsletters, digital content) to promote awareness and reinforce safety priorities.

    Continuity Planning and Emergency Response

    • Develop, maintain, and test business continuity and emergency response plans across branches and fleet operations.
    • Establish rapid mobilization procedures for natural disasters, fleet incidents, or large-scale disruptions.
    • Coordinate post-incident recovery efforts to restore operations while prioritizing safety and compliance.

    Data, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement

    • Track, analyze, and present safety KPIs, leading indicators, and trends to leadership.
    • Benchmark performance against industry standards and identify opportunities for innovation.
    • Implement digital safety management systems for real-time tracking and reporting.
    • Partner with HR and claims administrators on workers’ compensation, ensuring proactive case management and safe return-to-work programs.

    Collaboration and Leadership

    • Partner with fleet management, branch leaders, and supply chain partners to align on safety goals and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Influence executive and operational decision-making with data-driven safety insights.
    • Represent QXO with professionalism during interactions with regulatory bodies, insurers, and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of safety leadership experience in multi-site distribution, warehousing, transportation, or construction.
  • Proven success in designing and implementing EH&S programs across diverse operations.
  • Expert-level knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations, with hands-on experience in compliance management.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate findings into practical solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to influence across all levels of the organization. Bilingual candidates strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly across multiple sites.
  • Preferred certifications: OHST, CSP, or equivalent recognized safety credentials.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Travel requirements: 50% travel by car and/or plane to regional Operating Companies
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to move between departments within the company facility
