Summary/Objective
The Mortgage Loan Assistant is responsible for supporting the residential lending team focused on portfolio and conventional lending. This role works closely with Mortgage Loan Processors and Loan Officers to ensure efficient loan file management, accurate data entry, and timely progression of mortgage applications, including construction loans.
Essential Functions

1. Input borrower and loan data into the loan origination system.
2. Maintain and update loan files throughout the application process.
3. Track the status of loan applications and ensure all required documentation is received.
4. Monitor and follow up on third-party items including appraisals, title work, and insurance.
5. Track outstanding loan conditions and assist in clearing conditions prior to closing.
6. Communicate with internal staff and external partners to ensure timely processing.
7. Assist Loan Officers in tracking progress of construction projects.
8. Monitor draw requests, ensuring proper documentation and approvals are needed.
9. Help ensure construction timelines and project milestones are met.
10. Maintain accurate records of disbursement and project updates.
11. Provide administrative support to Loan Officers and Processors.
12. Respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
13. Coordinate communication between brokers, contractors, and bank staff.
14. Assists Loan Originator and Loan Processor in managing new and existing loan volume.
15. Assist Loan Processor in gathering information to clear underwriting conditions. Responds to inquiries and promptly follows-up with key individuals to resolve problems. Provides a high level of assistance to internal and external customers in-person or via phone.
16. Communicates with loan processor regarding documentation needed to process the loan; maintains effective follow-up to ensure documents are received, follows-up on missing documents.
17. Maintains complete and accurate information within the loan processing system.
18. Maintains a strong knowledge of the Bank's policies and procedures, identifies any deviations from policy, and ensures compliance with all required regulations and policies.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role. The employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position. The employee is occasionally required to move about inside the office. The employee is regularly required to handle files and documents as well as regularly operate a computer and keyboard. The employee is regularly required to communicate with customers and other staff members and exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and reviewing/inspecting documents.

This is a full-time position.

Required Education and Experience
High school degree or equivalent required.
Must be NMLS registration eligible.
Preferred Education and Experience
Two years of administrative support experience; Banking, mortgage lending, or administrative support experience preferred
An understanding of mortgage related loan documents.
Associate’s degree or higher
