Job Description:
- Analyze RFQs/RFPs, drawings, and specs to build detailed material and labor take‑offs.
- Use pricing databases/quote software to model cost, margin, and delivery scenarios.
- Prepare formal quote packages.
- Lead regional bid timelines from pre‑bid “go/no‑go” to final submission, ensuring stakeholder inputs are version‑controlled and branded.
- Schedule and run internal kick‑off, storyboard, and red‑team reviews. Consolidate narrative, pricing, and supporting documents into compliant proposals.
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams in your region.
- Maintain strong relationships with distributors and customers in the territory. As needed negotiate and strategize with suppliers for the best regional pricing and lead times. Particularly on large orders.
- Develop bid strategies (pricing tiers, alternates, win themes).
- Track, analyze, and report on quote hit‑rate, margin, and competitor positioning; refine pricing models accordingly.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding bids and capture client feedback.
- Champion proposal templates, version control, and knowledgebase best practices.
- Archive quote data for audit, cost‑benchmarking, and lessons‑learned reviews.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Quote turnaround time vs. SLA (e.g., 24‑48 hrs)
- Bid win‑rate and regional revenue secured
- Average and target gross margin on wins
- Quote accuracy (variance between estimate and actual cost)
- Stakeholder satisfaction (internal and customer feedback)
Qualifications
- Education – Bachelor’s in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience – 3‑5 years in quotations, estimating, or bid coordination for construction, manufacturing, or technical products/services. Prior regional sales‑support exposure preferred. mlazgar.com
- Technical Skills – Proficiency with quoting/ERP platforms (e.g., Salesforce CPQ, Oasis), strong Excel & cost‑modeling; familiarity with document‑control and collaboration tools.
- Certifications – APMP Foundation or similar proposal‑management credential desirable.
- Soft Skills – Exceptional attention to detail, deadline discipline, analytical thinking, persuasive written communication, and supplier/customer negotiation abilities.
Working Conditions & Travel
- Primarily office or hybrid environment with periodic job‑site/supplier visits across the region.
- Must be able to sit/stand at a computer for extended periods and occasionally lift proposal binders or sample materials (< 25 lbs).
