Job Description

Bus Driver Duties and Responsibilities:

·         The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle

·         Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility

·         Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle

·         Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle

·         Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs

·         Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended

·         Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip

·         Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

Bus Driver Qualifications and Skills:

·         Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle

·         Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle

·         Ability to find geographic locations

·         Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities

·         Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff

·         Possession of a valid driver’s license

·         Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle

·         Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above

·         Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus

 

Part Time: 16 - 24 hours a week
