Job Description

About Dr. Berg Nutritionals

Dr. Berg Nutritionals is a profitable, founder-led direct-to-consumer health and nutrition company built around Dr. Eric Berg, whose educational content reaches over 15 million YouTube subscribers. We sell through Amazon, a Shopify store, and a growing subscription program. We have a clear commercial goal for 2026 and a meaningful gap to close. We believe AI, used correctly, is the fastest way to close it.

Role Summary

We are hiring one exceptional analytics engineer to own the revenue outcomes of our AI investment. Not a department. One person, reporting directly to the CEO, with dotted-line coordination to the CIO, leading a small offshore engineering pod of three AI engineers. Internally, the title is Head of Revenue Analytics — because that's what the work actually is. You will own the data layer, the metrics that run the business, and the experiments that move the numbers.

The honest version: most companies split this job across two or three people — a data engineer, an analytics engineer, and an analyst — with a director on top. We believe modern analytics tooling has compressed the work enough that a single senior operator with real hands-on experience can do it and do it better than a committee. If you are an analytics engineer who has been frustrated by silos between 'the analyst who wants to ship' and 'the engineer who wants to understand the business,' this role is the opposite of that.

This is not a pure data engineering role. It is not a pure analyst role. It is the hybrid that exists because the modern stack — cloud warehouses, dbt, managed ingestion, modern BI — lets one strong operator own the whole pipeline from raw data to revenue impact.

What we are not

We are not a Silicon Valley-style pre-IPO startup. We are a profitable, operating company with real revenue, real customers, and a real Board. The work is commercial, not academic. We are not looking for someone to rip out our existing Azure infrastructure and rebuild on a preferred stack — we have meaningful investment in Berg Brain, Synapse, ADF, ADLS Gen2, Power BI, and pgvector. We want someone who can extend and optimize what's running, augmenting selectively where it earns its keep. We buy SaaS before we build. We use what exists. We only write custom code when nothing off-the-shelf is close enough.

If you love the idea of building a perfect data platform from scratch over two years, this isn't your role. If you love the idea of moving real revenue in 12 months by building on what's already there, we should talk.

Qualifications & Skills

REQUIRED

  • 5+ years in analytics engineering, senior data analysis, or equivalent. Title matters less than demonstrated full-stack ownership. We care what you've shipped, not what your business card says.
  • Real, hands-on production experience on a major cloud data platform. Azure (Synapse, Fabric, Data Factory, ADLS Gen2) is what we run on and what we'd value most. AWS (Redshift, Glue) or GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow) experience translates. Tell us about specific projects you shipped, with specific outcomes.
  • Production experience with modern transformation tooling. dbt preferred and warehouse-agnostic, so dbt experience on any cloud counts. Equivalent transformation frameworks considered.
  • Production experience with ingestion and BI tooling. Ingestion: Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, Airbyte, n8n, or equivalent. BI: Power BI, Hex, Mode, Looker, or equivalent. Power BI is our primary BI surface and shipped Power BI work is a real plus.
  • Expert SQL. Window functions, CTEs, query optimization. Not 'I can write SELECT statements.' If this description makes you nervous, this isn't the role.
  • A track record of moving a commercial number. Not 'I built a dashboard stakeholders use.' Tell us about the conversion rate you lifted, the churn you reduced, the ad spend you reallocated, the revenue line you owned. If your best work is a chart, we are probably not a fit.
  • E-commerce or DTC experience. Shopify, Amazon, or equivalent. Supplements, health, or consumer goods is a plus, not a requirement.
  • The ability to write a one-page brief a CEO can act on — and then defend it in front of engineers who want to argue with you. Both audiences matter.
  • Small-team leadership instincts. Especially distributed or offshore teams.

  PREFERRED

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar lakehouse architectures
  • Familiarity with Triple Whale, Northbeam, or similar attribution platforms
  • Familiarity with Amazon seller tools (Helium 10, Jungle Scout, Teikametrics)
  • Familiarity with Klaviyo and Recharge
  • LLM-based workflows: RAG over unstructured content, embeddings, semantic search

Work from Home Requirements

  • Up-to-date Mac or Windows computer with anti-virus protection
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Quiet, distraction-free workspace

Compensation & Benefits

We are intentional about creating a work environment that supports both high-quality work and the people doing it.

  • Pay Range: COMPETITIVE, based on experience.
  • For employee (W-2) engagements: we also offer a competitive benefits package.
  • Hours of Work: Must be available for communication during business hours, Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm EST
  • Location: Fully remote.
  • Engagement Type: Employee (W-2) full or part-time (30 hours minimum) or Independent Contractor.
