The Electrical Construction Lead is a hands-on, field-driven leadership position responsible for supervising and executing electrical and automation installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This role blends advanced technical expertise with strong foreman-level leadership to lead crew and ensure efficient project execution.
The ideal candidate must be ready to travel at short notice and mobilize quickly to designated job sites as needed. This individual leads from the front, upholds strict safety standards, and consistently delivers high-quality electrical work in fast-paced, demanding field environments.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Install electrical circuits and equipment including panels, switches, breakers, protective devices, conduit systems, feeders, and related components.
- Install and troubleshoot PLC systems, 120V control circuits, 480V power systems, transformers, motors, VFDs, and electronic control systems.
- Fabricate, install, and run conduit; perform 3-phase installations, motor terminations, panel wiring, and instrumentation work.
- Install, examine, replace, and repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, lighting systems, and associated equipment.
- Test and install electrical motors, generators, and pneumatic/electrical control systems.
- Maintain, install, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and automation devices when required
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within automation systems, including PLCs, RTUs, and SCADA networks.
- Provide mentorship, field training, and technical guidance to team members
- Maintain compliance with NEC, OSHA, and oil & gas industry safety standards.
- Interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, and code specifications to determine proper layout and installation.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Must be willing and able to travel extensively, including remote and out-of-state locations.
- Must be available for mobilization on short notice
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and rotational schedules as project demands require.
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments, industrial facilities, and potentially hazardous oil & gas conditions.
- Texas Journeyman Electrician license required (Master license a plus).
- New Mexico Electrician license a plus
- Valid driver’s license required; ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
- 5+ years of industrial/oil & gas electrical experience.
- Prior experience as a Lead Electrician or Foreman strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, motor controls, 3-phase systems, instrumentation, and automation.
- Experience in oil & gas facilities (well sites, compressor stations, refineries, processing plants, or terminals).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
