Elementary ELL Educator: Architect of Language & Culture


Location: Berkeley Intermediate School (Grades 3rd - 5th)

Role Summary


As a Certified ELL Teacher, you will inspire and support English language learners in reaching their academic and linguistic goals. You will lead high-quality, engaging instruction tailored to students’ specific proficiency levels, implementing research-based strategies that weave English acquisition into our rigorous curriculum. Working as a vital partner to families, colleagues, and the community, you will create an inclusive environment where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered to succeed.

  • Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) (K-12).

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required; Master’s degree, preferred.

 Your Impact (Key Duties)



  • Inspire Acquisition: Design and lead small-group or pull-out instruction that accelerates English language development in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

  • Bridge the Curriculum: Work alongside classroom teachers to scaffold complex lessons, ensuring ELL students can master grade-level standards.

  • Partner with Families: Act as a dedicated resource for our international families, ensuring they feel welcomed, informed, and part of the FFSD "New Chapter."

  • Utilize Resources: Leverage our district’s unique assets, like Little Creek Nature Area and our STEAM initiatives, to provide rich, hands-on vocabulary-building experiences.

  • Foster Belonging: Build a school-wide culture that celebrates linguistic diversity and views multilingualism as a premier academic asset.

  • Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff

  • Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar, 187 Contract Days

  • Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and education.
