Job Description

Job Purpose

The Charge Respiratory Therapist (RT) is the dedicated resource that supports, plans, leads and evaluates direct patient care activities during assigned shift. This position provides and oversees respiratory therapy care in accordance with and requires staff accountability for compliance with regulatory and professional standards for patient care and staff.  

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Duty

Percent of Time

Supervises and supports respiratory staff in the provision of outstanding patient care.

20%

Coordinates shift assignments for respiratory therapy team members.

25%

Performs administrative duties such as record keeping, multi-disciplinary communication, scheduling and other necessary tasks to ensure daily operations are complete.

10%

Serves as a technical and clinical resource to respiratory therapy staff and other hospital team members (i.e., equipment and patient troubleshooting).

25%

Performs prescribed respiratory treatments and assessments.

15%

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

An Associate of Arts or Associates of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy is preferred. Must be graduate of a Respiratory Therapy Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with the understanding that you will need to obtain your RRT within 1-year of hire date

OR

 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

License/Certification/Credential:

  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner licensed by the Oklahoma Medical Board. 

  • Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire).

  • Credentialed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
