About the role

BAO Consulting Group is seeking an elite Managing Director to serve as a founding member of our Accounting Advisory leadership team. This is an opportunity for an extraordinary professional who has the credibility, network, and ambition to build and lead a high-growth practice inside one of the most dynamic boutique advisory firms in the country. If you've outgrown a large firm and want to build something — this is your platform.

What you'll do

  • Serve as a named senior leader and market-facing executive of BAO's Accounting Advisory practice
  • Build, develop, and own a significant book of business across middle-market, PE-backed, and emerging growth clients
  • Set the strategic direction of the Accounting Advisory service line, including new offerings, industry verticals, and market positioning
  • Personally lead and oversee the most complex and high-value client engagements
  • Serve as a thought leader and public representative of BAO: publish, speak, and network at the highest levels
  • Partner with the President, Co-Founders, and CGO to shape firm-wide strategy, culture, and operational priorities
  • Own the full practice P&L: revenue targets, margin, utilization, headcount planning, and investment decisions
  • Lead executive-level recruiting; attract top talent from Big 4, national firms, and industry
  • Develop and institutionalize BAO's proprietary frameworks, scoring tools, and engagement methodologies

Qualifications

  • CPA required; advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 16+ years of experience with significant tenure in a Big 4 or top-tier advisory firm at a senior level (Director, Partner, or equivalent)
  • Established book of business or credible path to a book of business of $2M+ in Year 1–2
  • Deep expertise across the full accounting advisory spectrum including technical accounting, financial reporting, M&A, and transformation
  • A reputation as a trusted advisor to CFOs, CEOs, audit committees, and PE sponsors
  • Exceptional leadership credentials: track record of building teams, developing talent, and driving culture

Preferred qualifications

  • Former Big 4 Partner or Managing Director at a firm such as Riveron, Accordion, Embark, or Cross Country Consulting
  • Substantial equity-backed portfolio company experience; strong PE sponsor relationships in Texas or nationally
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine desire to be a builder, not just an operator

Company benefits

  • Medical, Dental & Vision - comprehensive coverage for you and your dependents.
  • 401(k) with Employer Match - we invest in your future, not just your clients'.
  • Unlimited PTO - take the time you need.  We measure output, not hours.
  • Paid Parental Leave - time to be present when it matters most.
  • Professional Development - CPA CPE reimbursement and continuing education support.
