    POSITION: Coordinator - Pupil and Staff Support Services (FTE 1.0)

    WORK YEAR: 210 Workdays

    START DATE: July 1, 2026 *

    SALARY: $110,000

    Overview

    The Pupil and Staff Support Services Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Pupil and Staff Support Services, plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and compliant delivery of special education services across the district. This position involves direct supervision of support staff, planning for professional development, policy oversight, specialized program management, and direct support for complex student meetings and evaluations. The Coordinator ensures high-quality instruction and support for all students receiving special education services. 

    Responsibilities

    • In coordination with the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services, set high expectations and goals for the PSSS department
    • Assist the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services to coordinate and monitor the implementation of all Special Education Programs, including recruitment, assignment, and evaluation of staff members
    • Provide input to the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services during budget preparation for the Pupil Services department
    • Assist the Director of Pupil & Staff Support Services by coordinating the school district's professional development activities
    • Orient new staff regarding special education programs and systems
    • Oversee the Extended School Year (ESY) program
    • Serve as the District Administrator for Out of District students who have IEP or 504 plans and attend Out of District PPT meetings
    • Lead district Attendance and Assistive Technology teams and initiatives 

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in special education or a related field
    • 092 Certification required
    • Extensive knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations (e.g., IDEA, Section 504), and best practices
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and mentor staff
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Proficient knowledge of CT-SEDS
