Summary: 
KCC, a leader in climate control technology, is seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to help drive innovation across our legacy and next-generation product portfolio. This role combines design engineering with advanced 3D CAD modeling, hands-on problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Purchasing to bring high quality commercial HVAC equipment from concept to production. 
Responsibilities: 
  • Lead Product Design: Utilize SOLIDWORKS and other design-related software to drive the design, analysis, and optimization of commercial HVAC systems and components, ensuring high performance, reliability, and manufacturability.  
  • Develop Innovative Solutions: Diagnose and resolve product/design challenges by applying engineering fundamentals, conducting root cause analysis, and performing a hybrid of simulation and physical validation.  
  • Design for Manufacturing & Assembly: Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize product designs by integrating DFMA principles into early-stage product development. 
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and execute enhancements to existing products, processes, and systems that improve performance, reduce cost, and increase long-term reliability. 
  • Collaborate with Suppliers: Work directly with vendors to engineer new components, explore alternative materials, and enhance design quality and supply continuity.  
  • Specification and Regulatory Analysis: Analyze test results and implement appropriate changes to ensure products meet technical and functional requirements. 
  • Create Clear Documentation: Partner with Sales, Production, and Engineering to develop accurate, customer-friendly product documentation and supporting materials. 
  • Deliver Accurate Technical Guidance: Provide precise and timely engineering information to internal teams and external partners, ensuring alignment and clarity.  
  • Invest in Ongoing Learning: Stay current with applicable industry standards (ASHRAE, AHRI, ANSI, etc.) and emerging HVAC technologies to support continuous professional growth.  
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field; equivalent related experience will also be considered. 
  • Proven knowledge of SOLIDWORKS or a similar 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite. 
  • Demonstrates problem-solving ability with a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles. 
  • Strong hands-on/mechanical aptitude. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and adapt to evolving project requirements in a fast-paced environment. 
Preferred: 
  • Certifications in SOLIDWORKS CAD software. 
  • Experience with sheet metal design. 
  • Prior experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering or manufacturing teams.
