Everyone knows the pool is the coolest place to be in the summer. Join our Aquatics Team to make sure everyone can enjoy the pool in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor or a little bit of both, you’re going to love working in aquatics at the Y because you’re helping swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water. No lifeguard experience? No problem, we’ll train you!


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Monitor pool area to ensure the safety of all swimmers and visitors
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid or CPR as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area and surrounding facilities
  • Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and pool conditions
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting members and guests with inquiries and ensuring a positive experience

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
  • Must 16 years of age.
  • YMCA Lifeguard or certification by another nationally recognized organization.
  • Must possess a cooperative spirit to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, Y members, program participants and the general public.
  • Must have ability to relate with pool patrons in a positive manner.
  • Must be professional, alert, courteous and tactful.
  • Must be serious in their manner toward job responsibilities and have an aptitude for thinking clearly in emergency situations.
  • Must have strong water skills and maintain top physical fitness
