Summary/Objective



The Engineering Intern participates in a structured, rotational internship program within Niowave?s Engineering & Facilities Department. This semester-based, full-time position provides hands-on exposure to multiple technical functions. The program is designed to develop future engineering talent through progressive responsibility, cross-functional collaboration, and practical application of academic knowledge within an integrated accelerator and radiopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.



The Engineering Intern is a driven and technically curious engineering student who brings a strong academic foundation in engineering principles, and is eager to translate classroom knowledge into practical solutions within a radiopharmaceutical production setting. The Engineering Intern will approach challenges with analytical rigor, using data to inform decisions and improve system performance. The Engineering Intern will actively seek opportunities to optimize processes, enhance equipment reliability, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts that support safe, efficient, and scalable operations.



Essential Functions




  • Rotate through multiple engineering groups including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Engineering, Test Engineering, Design, and Fabrication as assigned

  • Support engineering projects related to accelerator systems, shielding design, facility infrastructure, and production scalability initiatives

  • Assist in design development, modeling, drawing updates, documentation, and engineering change processes

  • Collaborate with radiochemists and production teams to support shielding design, equipment integration, and safe production operations

  • Participate in problem-solving activities related to system optimization, equipment reliability, and process improvement

  • Contribute to data collection, analysis, and technical reporting to support engineering decisions

  • Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), radiation safety, and cGMP requirements

  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables within defined timelines

  • Develop familiarity with Niowave?s vertically integrated accelerator design and manufacturing model

  • Support documentation updates including drawings, procedures, and work instructions

  • Assist with prototype builds, testing activities, and validation support

  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and facilities operations

  • Present rotational learnings and project outcomes to engineering leadership as assigned

Required Education and Experience




  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor?s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering

  • Minimum sophomore standing

  • Ability to work full-time during academic semester

  • Demonstrated academic performance and interest in applied engineering environments



Preferred Education and Experience




  • Participation in a cooperative education (Co-Op) program

  • Prior internship, laboratory, fabrication, or manufacturing experience

  • Exposure to CAD software, basic engineering analysis tools, or manufacturing processes
