Do you enjoy working with kids? Teach a life skill to kids (and adults) while having fun as an instructor in our learn-to-swim program! Choose your shifts based on your availability. All training provided, no previous experience necessary. Must be 14 years or older and in high school (or entering high school in the fall).
Positions available year-round as follows:
- School-year: Evening and weekend positions available at Crestview Middle School, Kirkwood High School, and Rockwood Summit High School
- Summer: Day, evening and weekend positions available at Crestview Middle School, Eureka High School, Kirkwood High School, and Rockwood Summit High School
Position open to anyone living in the St. Louis area.
Pay: $15/hr

ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED:
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.
POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Community Ed team, the swim school instructor provides instruction to swimmers in the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instruct swimmers in their appropriate skill level.
- Communicate with parents regarding swimmer progress.
- Ensure safety of swimmers being instructed.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the swim school site supervisor.
- Inform site supervisor of pool maintenance or safety issues related to the facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must work well as part of a team and individually.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to access all work locations within and outside the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of swimming techniques and teaching methods preferred.
- Previous teaching and/or coaching experience in swimming preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Standard office equipment.
- Pool equipment, including kickboards, diving rings, lifejackets, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Within assigned pools within and outside Parkway and Rockwood School District locations.
- While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to swim, sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a self-funded department and is not funded through the district's general operating budget. All positions are contingent upon the ongoing financial viability of the Community Ed program.
