Description
Position Summary
The Optical Lead is responsible for assisting the Director of Retail & Asset Management with the day-to-day supervision of the optical department while simultaneously functioning as a working optician or lab support. The successful candidate will assist in execution of planning to maximize sales and profitability, establishing goals, objectives, and standards for optical. The Optical Lead is also responsible for employee development and training programs under the direct supervision of the Director of Retail & Asset Management.
Expected compensation between $21.99 - $26.39/hour. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience and skills.

- Opticians and optical support staff as assigned
Optical Lead Essential Functions
- Maximize each transaction by educating patients on premium products, lens enhancements and benefits of multiple pairs of glasses
- Accurately inspect eyewear before final dispense, ensuring proper fit and care of product
- Receive and dispense eyewear orders into optical practice management system
- Leads by example and maintain positive patient and staff experiences
- Assists with implementation of optical promotions
- Works with Director of Retail & Asset Management to develop and implement training programs for all optical staff
- Assists with monthly and quarterly inventory counts
- Works with Director of Retail and Asset Management to handle patient complaints.
- Participates in roles including hiring, orientation and training as needed
- Create staff schedules considering business trends, peak hour traffic and customer needs, and move staff as necessary to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Assists Director of Retail & Asset Management with approval of weekly timecards and PTO requests
- Assists Director of Retail & Asset Management in Development of creative ideas and innovative approaches to improve work schedules, workflows, and productivity
- Ensure optical team members deliver outstanding patient care, by mentoring the appropriate professional behavior
Other Essential Functions
- Must be willing and able to work a variety of hours and work in the various locations as needed
- Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
- Participate in department and company meetings, as requested
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Retail & Asset Management
Requirements
Education & Licensing
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
Experience
- Three to five years of optical experience required
- ABO Certified required
- Experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology practice preferred
- Background and experience in the healthcare industry preferred
