Job Description

 

The shunter will work independently as well as with a team to pick up and deliver to various buildings in Chateauguay and may have to drive to suppliers/clients in Montreal and Estrie.

 

Role and responsibilities

 

  • Providing exceptional service to build and maintain quality customer relationships.
  • Unloading & loading metal products.
  • Forklift operating ( we give the training & certification).
  • Operating straight trucks or trailers safely and professionally to transport goods and materials over urban, short inter-urban.
  • Operating trucks & trailers safely and professionally to transport goods and materials to our clients and our different buildings.
  • Conducting routine pre/post-trip truck inspections and maintaining accurate records of delivery routes, electronics logs, proper documentations, and incident reporting.
  • Performing product delivery verification at the customer location and maintaining customer invoices.
  • Following health and safety and safe work procedures.
  • Flexible to work in the shop on different tasks.
  • Demonstrate a proactive commitment to quality by strictly following work instructions, proactively prevent quality issues and promptly inform your supervisor of any issue found.
  • Actively promote, follow, and take responsibility for health and safety practices in all aspects of the role
  • All other related tasks are considered part of the role and may be assigned as needed.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

 

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean commercial driver’s abstract.
  • Physically fit and able to repeatedly lift, stack, pull and carry heavy items (up to 60 lbs).
  • Previous professional driving experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather, temperature, and road conditions.
  • Master the French and English language (communication with suppliers and clients).

 

All other related tasks are considered part of the role and may be assigned as needed
