Job Description

SIGN-ON BONUS for Full-time Remote 

POSITION PURPOSE:  The Business Office Insurance Follow-up Representative III is responsible for reviewing unpaid, underpaid, denied or unresolved insurance balance on patient accounts submitted to various health care payers. The primary focus is to review claims for accuracy and completeness, timeliness, and correctness of payment from payers, and rebilling/appealing as appropriate to resolve any underlying errors in claims submission and account resolution.

DESCRIPTION:

Performs Insurance Follow-up functions relevant to the Business Office and its focus on timely and accurate claim adjudication.

  • Communicate with third-party representatives as necessary to complete claims processing and/or resolve problem claims, utilizing all methods of communications specific to payer.
  • Follow-up daily on post processing activity including rejected, denied, or underpaid claims.
  • Rebill insurance claims to the appropriate payer when warranted.
  • Demonstrates the ability to coordinate with the biller in order to consistently produce accurate bills, which in turn will be paid in a timely manner.
  • Timely support and communication of revenue cycle is needed to facility/clinical departments to guarantee the optimization and accuracy of services provided, charges, reimbursement ensuring a high level of financial sustainability.
  • Monitors account activities continually with insurance companies, registration, HIM, patients, and physicians to achieve accurate and timely A/R.
  • Effectively utilizes and understands the departmental software (computer systems) in order to realize its optimal potential and to be able to evaluate and recommend improvement on workflow/processes.
  • Works effectively with auditors in locating various insurance bills as required; demonstrates cooperation and responsiveness.
  • Maintains a current awareness of third-party reimbursement regulations and contractual arrangements with insurance payers/plans.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all Federal and State rules and regulatory requirements for billing and follow-up.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Be able to work in a challenging environment and take appropriate directions.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 3 years previous Revenue Cycle healthcare experience required.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology required
  • CRCR certification preferred. Ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Working knowledge of insurance processing, CPT, ICD-10, co-pay, and coverage verification processes.
  • Ability to navigate through EMR system.
  • Ability to effectively research documents and find information.
  • Strong verbal/written skills to communicate information clearly with patients, family members, and insurance companies.
  • Healthcare is ever changing in nature; this position requires the unique ability to change and adapt to the situation.

Compensation: $23.00 - $33 per hour DOE + $2000 Sign-on Bonus for Full-time.
