Duties

Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, and implements a comprehensive portfolio of special events, programs, and activities for a diverse community including military members, their families, retirees, and civilians. Develops and executes detailed event plans for recurring and non-recurring activities, including themed events, holiday celebrations, competitions, and community-wide festivals. Coordinates all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection and setup, equipment and supply procurement, catering, entertainment, and transportarion. Develops and manages event budgets, tracks expenditures, collects fees, and ensures the protection of all funds. Prepares financial reports and justifies budget requests. Creates and implements innovative marketing and publicity strategies to promote events and maximize participation. This includes creating promotional materials, utilizing social media, and engaging with the community. Conducts market research, surveys, and focus groups to assess community interests and needs, using this feedback to recommend and develop new, popular, and relevant programming. Solicits, trains, and supervises volunteers and/or temporary contract personnel to assist with event execution. Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with base organizations, community partners, and external vendors to enhance event quality and resource utilization. Ensures all events comply with safety, fire, and environmental regulations and procedures. Reports and addresses any facility or equipment issues promptly. Evaluates event success through after-action reports, analysis of attendance and financial data, and customer feedback to ensure continuous program improvement. Independently plans and carries out projects and selects the approaches and methods to be used. Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing, are essential for promoting events and coordinating with stakeholders. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules. Performs other duties as required. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in planning, organizing, and executing a variety of events or recreation programs. Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients, vendors, and volunteers. Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception through completion. Must posse.ss skill in dealing with the public and providing excellent customer service. Knowledge of safety and risk management principles as they apply to public events. Condition(s) of Employment: Employee must have a valid driver's license if required to operate a Government Motor Vehicle (GMV). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier I Level) is required. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
