BIW DESIGN ENGINEER
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
Responsible for developing part designs and/or systems assuring that design rules are followed, and design practices are implemented, consistently across all components and systems within the organization.
- Create Parametric Surface models of Under body components of BIW as per
o Packaging requirements
o Design standards
o Performance criteria
o Geometrical requirements
o Create Associative Assembly models - Responsible for meeting DVP&R and DFMEA by virtual analysis by interacting with necessary CAE teams
- Take part in periodic design reviews for all the project assigned, update status and concerns
- Ensure the Design meet all design criteria and mating part criteria from other functional areas, confirm to Regulatory standards, best practices, voice of customer
- Adhere to TC/ PLM system rules and maintain part history
- Maintain the structure as per EBOM in TC / PLM system
- Release parts and assemblies as per Corporate Release Process
- Work with EBOM Team to maintain structure up to date
- To assist the PC/PR (development team) to do the technical feasibility, design robustness, component manufacturability and the compliance of technical documentation.
- To ensure the completeness/availability of all documents necessary for tooling release.
- Participate in Supplier Technical Reviews
- To interact with the suppliers & plant to understand any issues & ensure the issues are addressed with appropriate feedback without leading to any delay in delivery.
- Support the Change management by design changes and /or incorporating feed backs from Development team
- DMU check for clash and clearances
- Work with PC/PR and participate in the diagnostic activities on the relevant systems/components
- B.E. / B. Tech. / M. E / M. Tech – Mechanical / Automotive / Electrical engineering.

- Advanced Surface Modeling /Assembly Modeling using UG NX-Sheet metals
- Section study
- DMU Analysis
- Teamcenter (TC) / PLM / EBOM
- DVPR & DFMEA
- Vendor Development / SCM
- Design for manufacturing
- Issue resolution for process & performance related issue
- Weight & Cost optimization.
- Knowledge in GD&T, Sheet Materials
- Knowledge on Sheet metal welding process
- Robust modelling techniques
- Knowledge of Welding fixture design, Gun access study, Painting and sealing process requirement.
- Knowledge on Homologation & Regulation understanding.
- Problem solving experience with innovative solution with Quick turn around
- Good team player , Commitment to finish the design Proposals with the agile mind set.
