Description


The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity
across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment
services, and workforce support to help Kentuckians gain skills, find meaningful work, and connect with
employers. It also partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers to align training with
labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces.

reliable, self-motivated individual to serve in a full-time role for the employers and employees across the
Commonwealth.


This position is in the Workforce Development Legal Division, working as an Administrative Specialist Senior
in the Office of Legal Services at the Education and Labor Cabinet. The position will be based in Franklin
County. The ability to telecommute may be available up to two days per week after successful completion of a
probationary period.


This position provides administrative support to attorneys who provide a variety of legal services, such as
providing legal support to a variety of Cabinet programs, reviewing contracts, processing requests under the
Kentucky Open Records Act, and defending administrative appeal matters for the Education and Labor Cabinet.



The successful candidate will be able to perform the following duties with minimal supervision.
  • Gathers and research information from the Office of Unemployment Insurance for complex foreclosure actions
    where a cross-claim will be asserted.
  • Contacts opposing counsel to confirm lien information and claimant
    information. Based on information gathered, determines appropriate language for Answer to Foreclosure memo,
    and drafts complex responses for attorney review.
  • Respond to inquiries from attorneys and members of the public, including individuals requesting lien payoff
    information and instructions for payoff process.
  • Reviews new bankruptcy information and creates files.
  • Tracts and sends calendar deadlines to file Proof of Claims and completes Proof of Claims in bankruptcy cases
    for individuals that owe unemployment insurance overpayments.
  • Maintains division information on the shared drive, drafts correspondence and other documents upon request
    from attorneys, assists with Open Records Requests, provides other administrative support to attorneys,
    open/closes cases, and maintains reports of open/closed cases.
  • Assists with archiving files to be sent to the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives.

Minimum Requirements



EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.




EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.




Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.




Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
