This is a full-time, in-person position based out of our Brooklyn location.

Pay: $22.00-$23.00 per hour

Job Summary: The Authorizations Specialist works directly with in-house staff as well as insurance companies to obtain authorization for services provided. They are responsible for obtaining and reviewing insurance authorization for home care services. The Authorization Specialist would be responsible for updating authorizations on an as needed basis. This Authorization Specialist will also perform various office duties, including answering multi-line phones, routing telephone calls and emails to appropriate staff. They will be responsible for data entry into the practice management system (HHA Exchange), to obtain, review and input insurance authorization.

**Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Have knowledge of insurance company websites and policies to obtain authorization.

Contact applicable insurance companies, through internet or phone depending on requirements.

 Manage appropriate turn-around time in order to ensure timely authorizations are received by running and maintaining appropriate reports.

 Provide excellent customer service, care, and communication for our patients in an efficient manner.

 Run monthly eligibility, twice a month to ensure active coverage.

 Monitor and track patient authorizations through various reporting tools.

 Be able to work in a clear and positive manner with co-workers and insurance companies.

 Be able to perform other duties when requested.

 Work closely with clients and various departments across the company.

 Responsible for ensuring the appropriate documentation is received in order to obtain authorization.

 Maintain open lines of effective communication

Skills and Abilities:

 Ability to work in a fast pace environment.

 Must possess strong communication and organization skills.

 Working knowledge Microsoft word and excel.

 Exceptional Customer Service.

 Excellent written and verbal skills.

 Proficient computer, phone knowledge.

 Must be organized and have excellent attention to detail.

 Previous authorization experience preferred.

 Experience in HHA Exchange is a plus.

 Able to work well in a team setting as well as independently.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 2 years working within a healthcare environment.

  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • This position operates in an office environment.

  • Able to perceive and follow written instructions, verify documents and log in information accurately.

  • Able to perceive, convey, relay and clearly exchange and communicate information verbally, over the phone, etc.

  • Able to document information on software portal.

  • Able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. to be able to perform the above-listed responsibilities.

  • Able to remain sedentary for prolong periods of time.

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

 

Pay: $22.00-$23.00 per hour
