Job Overview:

RBA Builders is seeking a motivated and adaptable Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is experienced in construction estimating and eager to take on a variety of projects across Southern California.

The Estimator plays a key role in preparing and/or overseeing both conceptual and hard bid estimates for competitive and negotiated work. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can confidently manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing project demands, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for someone who is resilient under pressure, enjoys problem solving, and is passionate about contributing to the successful planning and execution of commercial construction projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on construction documents.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project scope to identify gaps, risks, and cost impacts.
  • Attend job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather project information.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate subcontractor bids to ensure complete and competitive coverage.
  • Develop and present comprehensive bid packages, including alternates and value engineering options.
  • Analyze project logistics, scheduling requirements, and long-lead items to support accurate timelines and budgets.
  • Research labor, material, and market costs to ensure competitive and profitable estimates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to support project planning and preconstruction efforts.
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy and organization.


Education, Experience, Requirements:

  • Associate degree in related field and/or 1-5 years of combined estimating experience in the construction industry or production environment.
  • Strong process improvement and scheduling experience.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check for badging purposes.
