    Summary: The certified nursing assistant (CNA) will provide basic care to medically fragile student, faculty and staff.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
    1. Provides adjunct care to students including ice packs, heat treatments, temperature checks and distribute medicine under the direct supervision of the District Nurse etc.
    2. Maintains student stability by checking vital signs and recording intake and output of information if so needed.
    3. Provides resources and materials and reports observations of the student to District Nurse, Principal and parents as needed.
    4. Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
    5. Maintains work operations by following District policies and procedures.
    6. Protects organization’s value by keeping student information confidential.
    7. Serves and protects Bellwood School District 88 by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements.
    8. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
    1. Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
    2. Knowledge of relevant nursing care
    3. Friendly and professional bedside manner
    4. Maintains current CPR certification
    5. Multi-tasking skills
    6. Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
    7. Understands legal implications of student/patient care
     
    Education and Experience Requirements:
    • Certification with accredited training course through the State of Illinois  and current certification through American Heart Association in Basic Life
    • 2 years of nursing assistant experience
    • Appropriate license
