Job Opportunity: Special Education Teacher

Focus: Inclusive Practices & Mathematics

Bay High School is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher who is passionate about inclusive education. We are looking for a specialist who can provide high-quality, modified instruction—with a specific emphasis on Math skills—within both resource and inclusive (co-teaching) settings.

The Role

The successful candidate will serve as a lead advocate for students with diverse learning needs. You will focus on closing the achievement gap in Mathematics while ensuring that students are successfully integrated into the general education environment whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support: Design and implement specially designed instruction (SDI) for students with IEPs, specifically targeting foundational and secondary math concepts.

  • Inclusive Practices: Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and provide "push-in" support to ensure student success in the least restrictive environment.

  • IEP Management: Develop, write, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including progress monitoring and facilitating annual reviews.

  • Data Driven: Use formal and informal assessments to track student growth and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Valid Arkansas Teaching License in Special Education (K–12 or 7–12).

  • Math Proficiency: Strong comfort level with secondary math concepts (Algebra, Geometry, etc.) and the ability to break them down for diverse learners.

  • Mindset: A firm belief that all students can learn and a commitment to inclusive classroom models.
