The Accounting and Data Specialist supports the day-to-day operations and transactional activities within the Global Accounting and Business Services (GBS) organization. Reporting to the Accounting and Data Managers, this role will focus on fulfilling requests, updating documentation, and assisting onshore teams to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with agreed-upon SLAs and KPIs. This role will be a key contributor to maintaining Rivian’s Accounting and Master Data.
Accounting Support
Month-End Execution: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing and posting journal entries in Blackline.
Reconciliations: Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy; investigate and escalate variances as needed.
Audit Readiness: Gather documentation and provide support for internal/external audit requests and SOX compliance testing.
Reporting: Help compile data for internal management and statutory reporting.
Master Data Management
Data Integrity: Intake, validate, and update Vendor and Customer Master Data in the ERP system.
Ticket Management: Process incoming data requests and tickets using a FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method, prioritizing urgent business needs.
Verification: Conduct phone calls or video meetings with vendors to verify sensitive banking/tax information and troubleshoot onboarding issues.
Data Hygiene: Perform regular "clean-up" tasks to remove duplicates and ensure data accuracy across P2P (Procurement-to-Pay) and O2C (Order-to-Cash) workflows.
Operational Excellence
Workflow Support: Adhere to Desktop Procedures (DTPs) and suggest updates when processes change.
Escalation Handling: Monitor GBS escalation logs and work with senior team members to resolve items holding up payments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Procurement, AP, AR, and Tax teams to ensure seamless data flow.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, or data management.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP experience is a major plus).
Communication: Strong written and verbal English skills; comfortable conducting verification calls with external partners.
